PALM is an Academy at Palm Springs High School that offers students the opportunity to study about allied health careers. Academic courses integrate health related concepts into the approved curriculum. Career Technical Education courses allow students to develop hands-on skills and receive certifications.
The mission of the PALM Academy is to develop the high school student to continue their education at the post-secondary level in pursuit of a medical career. We stress career exploration, leadership and soft-skills.
This is senior student Denae Esteban, who job shadowed two weeks ago with Ashley Vertuno, MHA, Service Line Administrator of Desert Regional Medical Center.
Ashley came to visit the Intern class as a guest speaker last semester and the result was that Denae was greatly influenced about healthcare career opportunities in medical administration, which she had never considered before. So we set up an opportunity for Denae to spend some time with Ashley at her place of work.
Gloria Rodriguez, News Anchor of KMIR, was at PSHS to interview current and past Intern students.
